Music Instructor Spotlight: Chris Allen

Meet Chris Allen, a talented music instructor who has been teaching guitar, ukulele, mandolin, banjo, and oud at MSAC since 2008. Chris has an impressive educational background, graduating with a DMA in classical guitar performance with a jazz studies minor from UW Madison in 2012 and an MM and BA in classical guitar performance from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1998 and 2002, respectively.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Chris has held various guitar instructor and lecturer positions, including at Southeastern Illinois College, John A. Logan College, and the UW-Madison Community lessons program. He currently teaches at Madison College and MSAC.


Chris's leadership extends beyond the classroom. He is the founder of the Madison Classical Guitar Society, a nonprofit organization that brings guitarists of all levels and styles together to appreciate the artistry of the classical guitar. Through the society, Chris has been able to bring renowned guitarists from around the world to perform and teach masterclasses, further enriching the musical community in Madison.


However, what truly sets Chris apart is his unwavering dedication to his students, fueled by a deep-rooted passion for music. This passion, evident in his years of experience and numerous accomplishments, is a source of inspiration for all who learn under his guidance.
