Beyond Monroe Street

What is Aspiring Artists & Musicians?

A free, inclusive program focused on providing support to children of all abilities, encouraging exploration of music, movement, and art together in a socially enriching environment. In collaboration with Aspire Therapy, Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists work with MSAC instructors to make these classes a safe place for neurodivergent children to thrive.

Beginning in January of 2022, Monroe Street Arts Center has worked to expand and enrich our offerings for the neurodivergent community through Inclusive Art and Music instruction in collaboration with Aspire Therapy & Development Services. This year we offered two monthly classes for neurodiverse children between the ages of two to five years old along with their caregivers and neurotypical siblings or peers: Aspiring Artists, and Aspiring Musicians.

These programs are a collaborative effort between Monroe Street Arts Center Instructors as well as Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Pathologists from Aspire Therapy. These classes focus on using Art and Music instruction to help students work towards and meet therapy goals while also providing a positive opportunity for social connection. Aspiring Artists and Aspiring Musicians classes are open to the public for registration, providing neurodivergent students the opportunity to interact with their peers of the same age in a guided environment with a maximum of 10 students per class. There is no registration fee.

Aspiring Artists

In collaboration with our friends at Aspire Therapy & Developmental Serivces, MSAC is thrilled to host this inclusive art class. Join MSAC instructor, Ms. Claire and Occupational therapists from Aspire as we allow students freedom to create in various ways each month. Projects are instructor-guided, with options for students to create in their own ways in a socially enriching environment.

Please discuss with the instructors if your child is willing and able to participate independently. If the instructors are able to facilitate, we ask that parents or caregivers stay on site in the lobby for the duration of the class.
