Direct Observational Drawing

This 6-week class teaches classical direct observational drawing techniques using charcoal and chalk on toned paper. Students will learn sight measuring and rendering techniques while studying light, shadow, form, and accurate proportion, focusing on realism. Subjects include simple object still life, fabric and patterned fabric study, and multi-object complex still life. Upon completion, students will have the basic tools to pursue drawing and support future study in opaque paint mediums like Oil and Acrylic. Suitable for beginners and experienced students looking to enhance fundamental skills through direct observational drawing. 


Students must supply their own Drawing supplies. Full supply list is available online here with a cost of approximately $70. 


Please note: a minimum of 6 students must be in order for this class to run.
