Artist Collaboration Series:

Sculptural Moss

Embroidery

with Ren LaDassor

18+

Thursdays, Jan 23rd - Feb 6th

5:00 - 7:00 pm

$120

In this workshop, we will explore the process of making sculptural moss embroidery. We will incorporate embroidery floss, beading, and real wood to create a small bed of moss.

In the first class, we'll discuss how to plan our moss pieces and start creating the understructure. We will then look at the differences in texture using different types of embroidery stitches, primarily French knots and turkey tail.

In our second class, we'll talk about adding wood and beading.

In the last class, we'll discuss finishing techniques, get them into their frame, and admire our collection of moss gardens.

Provided in this class is a kit with all your supplies and an informational booklet with tips and up close examples of the instruction given in class.

Optional supply- If you are an avid embroiderer, I recommend a lap stand. It frees up your hand from holding your project, which helps with speed and greatly improves your posture. I own this one, but similar ones can be found on Amazon.

Another option is using clamps and clamping the hoop to the table, which I will demonstrate in class. I will also have clamps available for anyone going that route.

Please Note class end times will vary each week: 2 hours for the first class 1/23/25 (5-7 pm), 1.5 hrs for the second class 1/30/25 (5-6:30 pm), and 1 hr for the last class 2/6 (5-6 pm).

Registration deadline: 1/13/2025. Minimum of 6 students to run.

Annual registration fee does not apply. Registration opens 11/15/2024.
