Monroe Street Arts Center’s new opportunity for young children!
Join us for a morning of afternoon of music, arts and movement.
Little Scholars is an arts based school readiness program for ages 3.5-5. This class is designed to provide an immersive, playful and social engagement in art and music. Studies have shown that early involvement in the arts has a large impact on a child’s cognitive development. Children will meet for two hours once per week.
This class will encourage children to feel comfortable being independent, and confident separate from their caregiver. Our teachers will provide specialized attention and choices to help students succeed and enjoy discovering their independence in the classroom and beyond.
Families are invited to stay in our waiting area for the first class to help ease transition, if needed. The remaining classes will prepare the students for gentle separation as the adults will leave the room.
Our day will be divided between music, movement and visual arts. When you arrive, there will be time to settle in and play/socialize with your classmates.Once greeted by your teacher, your child will enter the art room and participate in an interactive and hands on art making experience for 45 minutes. After art, students will help clean up, come to the main lobby for snack and engage in open play.
Circle time will follow and exercise your child’s social and vocabulary skills while getting ready for music.
Using cooperative learning through song, movement and instruments, we will explore some of the basics of music. This low-pressure, non performance based group setting will be a great place for your child to begin learning about basic musical concepts and expression.
Each day will end with a closing activity to wind down and signal the end of class.
Children meet for two hours each day for music, arts and movement! Each camp is three days from 9:30-11:30 AM. Please provide a nut free snack.
*Students must have independent bathroom habits at the time of enrollment.
