Monroe Street will begin road construction starting in March through November 2018. Starting in February, you will see lane closures which may affect travel time and parking. Beginning in March, traffic will be one lane inbound from Odana to Regent Street for the remainder of construction.
Prior to the start of March road construction, MG&E Gas will be installing underground gas lines between Chapman Street and Woodrow Street (this includes the Monroe Street Arts Center). From now until March there will be periodic lane closures due to this work. Only one lane of eastbound traffic and one lane of westbound traffic will be maintained at all times—the peak hour traffic lanes will be closed. This will affect the blocks they are working on only and could change daily. When this is in front of Monroe Street Arts Center we will make a post on Facebook and here. Regardless this could affect your commute as early as today, so please allow extra time if possible.
If you are enrolled in private lessons and already are challenged to arrive on time for lessons you may want to look into switching your lesson time for March-May. Switching times is easier with some teachers than others, but let us know and we will assist you in finding out what options are available.
For up to date information on construction and how it may affect your commute to the arts center, please like us on Facebook and continue to visit our website. We will update these areas regularly as conditions change day to day. Thank you for sticking with MSAC while we get a new road, and helping us survive and thrive together! Special Policies During Construction:
To help you get to and from the arts center with ease this summer, MSAC is offering a few new options to make pick up and drop off as smooth as possible. Please note parking on Monroe Street will not be available, and parking in our lot will be reserved for families attending Early Childhood Classes, Little Scholars Camp, and other families with children under 5.
Camp Drop Off/Pick Up Times:
Students can be dropped off as early as 30 minutes prior to any camp start and picked up no later than 30 minutes after any camp end. This is to allow adults time to find parking and come into the center to sign your student out.
Morning Camp Drive-thru Lane:
There will be a drive-thru lane in our parking lot for adults to drop off students with acamp supervisor who will escort them into the building. You won’t have to leave your car! If you are not dropping off in the lot, plan enough time to find street parking.
Afternoon Camp Late Pick Up:
As always, ages 5-10 campers can stay until 4:30 PM by enrolling in our Open Art Studio class that runs Mon-Fri from 3:00-4:30 PM. See page 13 for details.
