2018 SUMMER ART CAMPS: Ages 5-7

$150/camp $300/full day (morning and afternoon camp, including lunch supervision) unless otherwise noted.
NO CLASS WEDNESDAY, JULY 4

Week 1: Monday, June 11 -Friday, June 15
NEW! #100 Animal Kingdom • 9:00-11:30 AM
Using a variety of media and techniques, focus on the kingdom of animals for
inspiration. Create animal puppets, pictures, sculptures and more in this class.
#101 Under the Sea • 12:30-3:00 PM
Splash into the world of mermaids, dolphins, jellyfish and more! Dive into a deep sea
adventure and develop your 2-D and 3-D art skills.

Week 2: Monday, June 18- Friday, June 22
#200 Cartooning • 9:00-11:30 AM
Create your own comic book hero, storyboard and characters. Learn the basics of
comic creation: drawing skills, character development, color selection and more.

Put on your hard hats! Create artistic diggers, bulldozers and use your imagination to
create your own construction zone.

Week 3: Monday, June 25- Friday, June 29
#300 Mixed Media Art Studio • 9:00-11:30 AM
Artwork comes in many shapes and sizes and a wide variety of mediums. Explore art
making methods, both traditional and modern. Highlights include collage, printmaking,
watercolor, paper and more!
#301 Illustrators and Authors • 12:30-3:00 PM
Draw inspiration from well-known children’s book authors and illustrators to start the
creative process of art making. We will look at the stories and drawings of Eric Carle, Dr.Seuss, and Shell Silverstein to name a few.

Week 4: Mystery A la Carte Week! You pick: Monday, July 2-Friday, July 6
NO CLASS Wednesday, July 4
Choose one or more days this week (except Wednesday). Each class is independent
and projects will not carry over. Teachers choice of projects that will vary in media and
subject matter. Please specify which camp(s) when enrolling. Lunch is included when
enrolled in both morning and afternoon camp.

Week 5: Monday, July 9-Friday, July 13
#500 Drawing & Painting • 9:00-11:30AM
Explore beginning drawing and painting techniques. Paint with watercolor, tempera,
and acrylic paint. We will practice our skills and learn new ones.
#501 Nature Creations • 12:30-3:00 PM
Learn ways to create art with nature. Use natural pigments, learn sun printing, and find
art materials outside.

Week 6: Monday, July 16- Friday, July 20
#600 Superhero Week • 9:00-11:30 AM
Become your own superhero and channel your inner Spiderman or Wonder Woman!
Draw and construct your ideas with drawing and sculpture materials. Create a story for
your superhero.
#601 All Things Alien & Robot • 12:30-3:00 PM
A summer staple at MSAC! Beep Boop Bop…Make your own “out of this world” alien,
and construct a way cool robot using lots of unique materials. Cut, glue, slice and paint
your way to a far-out creation.
Week 7: Monday, July 23- Friday, July 27

#700 Mad Scientist Week • 9:00-11:30 AM
Science and art hand in hand! Work with art materials to explore science. Conduct
artistic experiments with new materials and discover new methods of creating art.
#701 Sculpture • 12:30-3:00 PM
Use air-dry clay, Model Magic and found objects to create lovely and expressive works
of art.

Week 8: Monday, July 30- Friday, August 3

Become your own art monster! Use your imagination, as much as your hands as we use paint, fabric, modeling clay and our imagination to bring your pet monster to life.

Week 9: Monday, August 6- Friday, August 10
#900 Enchanted Art • 9:00-11:30 AM
Knights, dragons, kings, princesses, and other enchanted themes are the inspiration for this imaginative class. Join in on the fun and create your own fairytale world.
#901 Soft & Squishy, Gloopy Gloppy Fun • 12:30-3:00 PM
Experience the tactile world of art and squish your way to a masterpiece. Get your
hands dirty making your own clay, painting with goo, and creating slime.

Week 10: Monday, August 13- Friday, August 17
#1000 Artosaurous • 9:00-11:30 AM
Make art from the Prehistoric era! Use paint, clay, and mixed media materials to make
dinosaurs and artifacts from millions of years ago.
#1001 Wizards and Sorcery • 12:30-3:00 PM
Let your paintbrush be your magic wand! Tickle your wildest imagination as we paint,
sculpt and build our way through a week of magical art making.

Week 11: Monday, August 20- Friday, August 24
#1112 Art Monsters • 9:00-11:30 AM
Become your own art monster! Use your imagination, as much as your hands as we use
paint, fabric, modeling clay and our imagination to bring your pet monster to life.
#1113 Drawing & Painting • 12:30-3:00 PM
Explore beginning drawing and painting techniques. Paint with watercolor, tempera,

Cancellation Policy:
Art Camps:
Payment in full is required at the time of registration. No refunds on Art Camps after
June 15. After June 15, you will receive a non-refundable credit on your account for
50% of the class cost.

All other classes:
Refunds are permitted, less a $15 administrative fee, up to two weeks prior to the start
date. No refunds on cancellations with less than two weeks notice, instead you will
receive a credit on your account for 50% of the original fee of the class.
